Dvele Junior ADU Conversion: The Dallas Owner’s Guide
We stock and install Dvele-compatible junior ADU conversion components across Dallas, with most swaps running between $1,850 and $4,200 installed depending on your unit’s build year and the specific module that failed. We carry the common failure points on our trucks, which means most Dallas jobs get diagnosed and fixed in a single visit. What usually brings owners to us is a unit that powers on but won’t transfer load, a persistent fault code, or an intermittent electrical drop inside the ADU that no amount of resetting resolves.

Fielding ADU Dallas is an independent service provider. We are not affiliated with Dvele, but we work on their equipment regularly and keep current on their spec changes across model years.
Which Dvele Models This Applies To

Dvele’s junior ADU line has shifted internally across production years, and the conversion components are not universally interchangeable. Units built before 2021 typically use a 100-amp transfer assembly with a mechanical interlock, while 2021 and newer builds moved to a 125-amp solid-state module with integrated load shedding. The quickest way to identify yours: open the panel cover inside the ADU and look at the transfer module label. If it lists a “JADU-100” or “JADU-125” designation, that tells us exactly which family of parts we’re working with.
On the OEM versus aftermarket question: Dvele’s OEM conversion modules are well built, but lead times from the factory can run three to six weeks, which is a long time for a Dallas homeowner with a tenant or aging parent in the unit. We stock new-old-stock OEM units when they’re available and quality aftermarket equivalents that match the original’s amperage rating, lug configuration, and fault-tolerance profile. Reed Calloway has installed enough of both to tell you when aftermarket is fine and when it’s worth waiting for OEM. The honest answer is that it depends on your unit’s build year and what else is connected downstream.
Signs Your Dvele Junior ADU Conversion Is Failing
Here’s what we hear from Dallas owners before they call us, and what each symptom typically points to:
- Intermittent power drops inside the ADU. This is usually a contactor wearing out inside the transfer module. You’ll notice lights flicker or the mini-split hiccups, then everything comes back on its own. It will get worse over a few weeks, not better.
- Fault code or red status light on the module. Dvele modules are picky about voltage irregularity. A persistent fault code often means the incoming feed from the main panel is sagging, or the module’s internal relay is no longer holding closed.
- Humming or buzzing from the utility closet. A low hum is normal under load. A loud buzz or crackle is not. That’s a mechanical relay chattering, and it means the contacts are pitted and approaching failure.
- Breaker trips on the main panel when the ADU draws load. This can indicate a failing overcurrent sensor inside the conversion module, not a problem with the ADU’s appliances. The module is supposed to manage load smoothly; when it fails, it dumps everything at once.
- Burning smell or discoloration near the module. Shut the system down at the main breaker and call us. This is the one symptom we treat as an immediate safety issue, not a scheduling question. Arcing inside a transfer module is a fire hazard, not a nuisance.
Replacement Cost & What’s Included

In Dallas, expect a Dvele junior ADU conversion module replacement to run between $1,850 and $4,200 installed. The low end covers a straightforward mechanical-interlock module swap on an older unit with good wiring and easy access. The high end covers a newer solid-state module that requires reprogramming, load-shedding recalibration, and some panel work.
Every estimate includes the part, the labor to remove and reinstall, full testing under load, and haul-away of the failed component. We price from the module spec and your panel configuration before we start, so the number you approve is the number you pay. No change orders, no surprise line items. The replacement work is covered under our 365-Day Done Right Promise: if something in our installation fails within a year, we come back and fix it at no charge.
DIY or Call Us?
This is a safety-sensitive repair. The conversion module sits between your main panel and the ADU’s electrical system, and you are working with live utility power on one side of it. We don’t recommend any homeowner open that panel without killing the main feed, and even then there are capacitor-discharge and fault-protection circuits that can hold a charge. If you are comfortable with a multimeter and can safely read the module label to get us the model number, that’s genuinely helpful for stock confirmation before we arrive.
What you can safely do: photograph the module label, note the fault code if there is one, and listen for the buzz we described above. That gives us enough to bring the right part on the first trip. For the actual swap, call (903) 342-8977. We’ll have a background-checked, uniformed technician out with the part on the truck.
FAQs

In the Dallas market, these modules typically last 8 to 12 years, though the heat and storm-surge activity here pushes the mechanical-relay units toward the lower end of that range. If yours is a pre-2021 unit still on its original module, you’re already past the average service life.
Not reliably. Once the internal contacts are pitted or the solid-state relay has failed, a component-level repair costs more in labor than a new module and does not restore the original fault-tolerance behavior. We will tell you if yours is a rare case where a connector or wiring fix resolves it, but most failures require a replacement.
Most Dvele junior ADU conversion module swaps take between two and four hours, including load testing. Newer solid-state units take closer to four because of the recalibration sequence. The ADU is usually down for just that afternoon.
We stock the common OEM and quality aftermarket modules for Dvele’s junior ADU line on our Dallas trucks. If your unit needs a less common variant, we can typically source it within a week. Either way, call (903) 342-8977 and we’ll confirm stock before we schedule, so you’re not waiting on a part that hasn’t shipped yet.
We also service conversion components on Abodu and Cover ADU platforms if you have a mixed build on your property. We put the price in writing before the first nail goes in.
